A Celebrant works with client families to develop a meaningful ceremony which is personalized to reflect the life-style of the deceased, to recognize the life of the deceased and provide those attending with a meaningful end-of-life ceremony. Provides an alternative to traditional, religious or clergy driven ceremonies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                           

Personally meets with the family to discuss Celebrant alternativesListens to family of deceased regarding final wishes of deceasedGains thorough understanding of the personality of the deceasedInterviews other friends and family, as appropriateRecommends appropriate ceremony options for family to consider and obtains decisionFormulates personalized ceremony/service which may include one or more of the following:ReadingsPoemsMusicSongsPictures or videoWill generally officiate at the ceremony/serviceCoordinate with funeral director and other service providers, as necessaryPrepare keepsake copy of ceremony for family

MINIMUM Requirements

Education

High school education

Licenses/Certifications

Certified Celebrant preferredValid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required

Experience

Familiar with company guidelines, procedures and policies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proven ability to work independently and as an effective team memberKeen sense of judgment and tactStrong problem solving skillsAbility to recognize and respond to the differing management needs of individuals
