Job SummaryThe Director of CECS Facilities Operations is responsible for managing the infrastructure, logistics, and workflow improvements of the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS). This role focuses on optimizing space management, facilities-related systems, and operational processes that support CECS faculty, staff, and students. The Director will lead initiatives to streamline procedures, enhance operational efficiency, and provide critical support for research and instructional environments.

Responsibilities*Space & Infrastructure Management
Oversee office moves and manage space assignments for CECS faculty and staff.Coordinate facilities-related work order requests and collaborate with university maintenance teams.Procure and manage office furniture, including disposal and setup.Serve as primary Department Access Coordinator (DAC) responsible for DAC reviews, key assignments, and MCard access control.Manage CECS phone inventory and telecommunications logistics.Serve as primary MarketSite cart processor for the MSEL team.Assist in the maintenance of the annual Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).Support the Director of Business Operations in conducting the annual CECS Space Survey.Work in partnership with the CECS Director of Laboratory Safety & Compliance to ensure facilities meet regulatory and safety requirements.Strategic Facilities Planning & OversightLead long-range planning for space utilization, renovations, and capital improvements aligned with the college?s academic and research mission.Collaborate with academic leadership to align facilities with programmatic growth and strategic priorities.Serve as the college liaison for construction and lab modification projects.

Required Qualifications*Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).5+ years of experience in facilities or operations management, preferably in an academic or research environment.Strong organizational and project management skills.Familiarity with facilities systems, infrastructure planning, and logistical coordination.Proficiency with software systems such as TeamDynamix, MarketSite, or equivalent platforms.
Work Schedule
This position offers hybrid work flexibility. However, due to the operational nature of the role, on-site presence will be required as business needs dictate. The successful candidate must be able to adjust their in-person schedule to meet the demands of campus operations, events, and emergent facilities needs.
