POSITION SUMMARY:
The position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of trucks and forklifts for the Hatchery Department.
Description of Duties/Qualifications:
1. Must have successfully completed the probationary/trial period.
2. Must have excellent attendance habits.
3. Must have no other disciplinary write-ups within the past 90 days.
4. Will load trucks at the hatchery, deliver chicks to farms, return empty carriers to the hatchery, and wash chick carriers after return to the hatchery. The nature of the position is very physical.
5. Must be able to drive large trucks in all types of weather
6. Must be able to lift/push 100+ lbs.
7. Must have a valid CDL Class A license, a good driving record, a drug-free record, and must pass a DOT physical.
8. Must be able to operate a Manual CMV.
9. Vision correctable to 20/20.
10. Must possess good decision-making ability.
11. As trucks are heated for chick transport, some mechanical abilities in this area would be preferred if repairs to the vehicle were needed while in transit.
12. May also be required to do other hatchery-related jobs.
13. Good work ethic and ability to work as a team with other drivers and Hatchery employees.
14. Able to work in hot and dusty environments.
15. Normal work days Monday – Tuesday, Thursday –Friday – work any scheduled holidays. Sometimes we work Saturdays if needed.
16. Start times vary with seasons, normal start times are 5:30 to 7:30 a.m., and finish work by 6:30 p.m.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
·Working knowledge of driving and traffic rules.
·Appropriate skill to drive a truck safely
·Ability to follow both written and verbal directions
·Ability to communicate effectively with others in a manner that maintains harmony with co-workers
·Considerable ability to work under dusty adverse conditions.
·Valid Class A Driver’s license and acceptable driving record according to Company Policy with 12 months of verifiable tractor/trailer experience.
·Valid Pilgrim’s Forklift license or ability to obtain license within 30 days
