I. Job Summary
Safely operates a tractor-trailer or a straight truck with a pup trailer (or other vehicle requiring a Class A CDL). Lead Tractor-Trailer Drivers substitute for the drivers of open routes, supporting drivers to complete routes, and provides other operational support as directed by the Manager, which will include training Tractor-Trailer Drivers. Lead Tractor-Trailer Drivers mentor new drivers, participates in routing projects and other developmental programs.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process. Observes and completes OBAs as assigned by the manager, and coaches new drivers to ensure proper and consistent safety and performance duties are achieved. Operates vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws. Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by WM or directed by the Manager. Works closely with Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices. Communicates internal customer requests to Dispatch or Manager. Serves as a Mentor to new drivers and helps in the acclamation of work duties. Performs all duties as scheduled by Manager or Dispatch and assisting other drivers as directed to meet business needs. Notifies Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage. Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents inspections utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report). Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Manager or Dispatch. Maintains training documentation and records of all driver’s training. III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications 5 years operating a vehicle requiring a CDL 5 years equivalent military driving within the last 7 years must be at least 18 years of age legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located (CDL)-Class A Commercial Driving License (CDL) Class A B. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (accredited) IV. Physical Requirements
