GENERAL PURPOSE:  The Driver/Warehouse is responsible for driving a tractor trailer locally between company facilities, ad on occasion, make daily trip to customer facilities to make deliveries. The Driver/Warehouse is also responsible for loading and unloading trucks with finished product, physical inspection and placing in the warehousing racking system, as well as, retrieving finished product cases based on picking ticket information and relocating by forklift to the designated staging area for shipment. This position reports directly to the Transportation Manager; however, is accountable to the Warehouse Lead who will instruct day-to-day functions in the warehouse.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for driving a tractor trailer on daily basis for the purpose of moving finished product between facilities.Insures that a daily checklist verifying all safety equipment and features are working correctly on the forklift before beginning shift.Responsible for the safe operation of lift trucks within the plant.Loading and unloading trucks with finished product and placing in the warehousing racking system.Retrieves finished product cases based on picking ticket information and relocating by forklift to the designated staging area for shipment.Responsible for verifying all counts, quantities and descriptions of materials being received, shipped or warehoused are accurate and cases are not damagedMust complete paperwork associated with movement of materials accurately and in a timely manner.Maintain clean and orderly work area and ensure that all interfaces with the company are treated to a high level of customer service.Will assist other departments when requested to promote teamwork at all levels of the company.Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules, security procedures and instructions.Perform all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPEs to perform duties.This position will help keep department in specs within all 5S and SQF guidelines, and immediately report any food safety concerns to management.Inspects trailers to ensure internal walls, floors and roofs are structurally sound and not impervious to insects, rodents and the elements.Performs other duties assigned by Transportation Manager.Willing to work flexible hours as necessary.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Must have high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.One year of work related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in work-related environment.Must have forklift driver certification.Must have current Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL) Class A certified for tractor trailer operation.Must have safe driving record and pass drug tests as required by U.S. Department of Transportation as well as a physical examination.Background check is required.Must complete cGMP and Departmental QOP training.Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence as well as write simple correspondence.Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations and in small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.Adequate mathematical skills.Must be able to operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from receiving platform to storage or work area.Excellent communications skills.Must have good attendance.Must have 2+ years of forklift experience (gas or electric).
