CENTRAL PARK BOATHOUSE

This historic building started over 150 years ago as an area to explore and rent rowboats, and over the years it has evolved into a landmark restaurant. This iconic space will continue to hold catered events, restaurant services and rowboat rentals to its millions of visitors each year.

THE ROLE

The Manager, Catering & Special Events is an experienced events specialist with a deep passion for customer service and food and beverage and a proven record of successfully executing intimate gatherings and large-scale events. This individual is a collaborator and problem-solver with a strong work ethic and leadership skills who understands that customer satisfaction is key.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES

Serves as the main point of contact for clients to facilitate and direct all the logistics associated with a Special Event at Central Park Boathouse. Event coordination includes menu planning, coordination with preferred venders and communication with other departments including, but not limited to Culinary, Operations, BanquetsDevelop customized menus to meet the diverse needs of social and corporate clienteleLead the food and beverage planning process with clients including menu development, tastings and communicating service standardsIdentify and capitalize on upselling opportunities to drive incremental revenue growth, consistently exceeding contracted sales targets by 10–15%.Communicate with the Event Sales team to ensure events are executed as plannedManage collection of all required insurance documentation for event vendorsCoordinate vendor load-in following established building policies and proceduresResponsible for communication between the Event Sales, Banquets and the Culinary teamStay current with industry trends and participate in the development of innovative menu concepts, event set-ups and service stylesAssist with financial reporting including pre and post event P&Ls and projected sales reportsAttend weekly Event Order and Hospitality leadership meetingsLiaise with Operations team to ensure the event space is well maintainedCreate spreadsheets and documents to improve event operationsComplete other duties as assigned by Management

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree, Hospitality Management degree preferred2-5 years of Management experience in Catering, Banquets, Events or HospitalityAbility to communicate effectively with other departments, staff and guestsMust be able to take direction and delegate responsibilitiesFamiliarity with P&L reportingWillingness and drive to exceed the guest expectationsMust have excellent knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquetteMust possess strong organizational skillsGeneral knowledge of competitive set in marketWillingness to work extended hours and flexible shifts including: mornings, nights, weekends and holidaysKnowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu itemsPractice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and additional job specific safety training

COMPENSATION

Competitive salary range of $75,000 - $78,000 plus commission potential, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.
