Work That Matters, People Who Care. **Job Description** **Position Summary** The Catering Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing high-quality meals and menus for all university catering functions, including banquets, receptions, conferences, and special events. This role ensures that food production meets Dexterra standards of excellence in quality, presentation, and service while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations. **Key Responsibilities** + **Menu Development & Execution** + Execute menus tailored to a variety of catering events, accommodating dietary restrictions and preferences. + Ensure dishes are prepared and presented with consistent quality, taste, and appearance. + Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Catering Manager to design seasonal and event-specific menus. + **Catering Operations** + Oversee all catering kitchen operations from prep to service for events of various sizes. + Manage food production timelines to ensure seamless service. + Coordinate with catering staff to ensure smooth execution and high guest satisfaction. + Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment. + Minimize waste while maximizing product utilization. + **Compliance & Safety** + Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and occupational health standards. + Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in catering kitchens and prep areas. + Follow all Dexterra and regulatory policies regarding food handling. **Qualifications** + Culinary diploma or Red Seal Certification (or equivalent experience preferred) + Minimum 3–5 years of culinary experience in catering, banquet, or high-volume food service operations. + Proven ability to manage and execute events ranging from small gatherings to large banquets. + Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, clients, and university partners. + Knowledge of food costing, menu planning, and inventory control. + Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by events. **Additional Information** **WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?** + Be part of an industry that's more important than ever! + Employee Referral Program! + Career advancement opportunities. + Whereas other companies are downsizing, we are growing! + Be #1 on day 1 by joining an industry leader.
