Catering AssistantLocation: Oaks HospitalFull Time (37.5 hours per week)Working within our catering department as part of our Ward Pantry Team and reporting to the Head Chef, this role is key to delivering a high-quality, efficient catering service to patients, staff, and visitors. You’ll ensure meals and beverages are served safely, hygienically, and with compassion — enhancing the overall patient experience.
Are you passionate about great customer service and supporting patient care through catering? Oaks Hospital is looking for a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a rewarding role where you’ll play an important part in providing nutritious meals and a positive dining experience for our patients.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Service & DeliveryServe meals and drinks according to ward menus and dietary requirements.
Deliver and collect meal trolleys to and from wards.
Assist with food regeneration, presentation, and garnishing.
Patient InteractionTake accurate food and beverage orders from patients.
Provide clear information on menu choices.
Maintain a friendly, caring, and professional approach at all times.
Hygiene & SafetyClean catering equipment and service areas daily.Follow strict food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP).
Record food and equipment temperatures accurately.
Stock & SuppliesPick and pack ward food orders.
Ensure crockery, cutlery, and utensils are well-stocked and available.
Skills & QualificationsLevel 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (essential – can be gained after joining).
Previous catering or food service experience (preferred, but not essential).
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work flexibly across shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Personal AttributesCompassionate and patient-focused.
A reliable team player with a positive attitude.
Punctual, adaptable, and willing to learn.
