Axalta is hiring a Category Manager for a permanent, hybrid role for our team. Candidates can be based out of our office in Glen Mills, PA or Houston, TX locations.
Role Summary:
The Category Manager sets the organizations’ procurement strategy for Monomers in the Americas region. This includes the formal development and execution of strategies using best practices associated with price and contract negotiation, formal RFP processes, process improvement, supplier and portfolio development. As a Category Manager you will function as the link to suppliers translating the needs of our business in a way that encourages them to provide products of superior quality and value to enable us to reproducibly supply only excellent quality finished products to our customers. this person will oversee the Monomer category within our organization. You will play a crucial role in driving growth, efficiency, and profitability by managing the sourcing, procurement, and strategic direction of additives used in our coating’s products. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the chemical market to make a significant impact within our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Accountable for managing direct material spend of +$100 MMAchieve year over year cost savings and Variable Margin ImprovementEvaluate our current purchasing approaches and implement improvements where neededEnsure quality on-time delivery of materials at a competitive cost and in compliancePerform market analysis, benchmark analysis, and develop “should cost” models at a commodity levelManage supplier relationships and contract negotiations to identify suppliers capable of meeting product and service requirements for business stakeholder needsLead cross-functional qualification projects for alternate or second source suppliers and technologyMonitor and resolve major disconnects within the order to pay processDevelop and maintain productive relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholdersLead and negotiate raw material costs for categoryCollaborate cross functionally with all teams to understand product requirements, new solutions and drive both cost and improvementQualifications:
Bachelor's Degree is required5 years of total Procurement (3 years of strategic category management experience and 2-3 years’ experience working in global teams)Understanding of the chemical marketExperience sourcing chemicals (Acrylates, Methacrylates and Monomers a plus)Experience managing the contracting process & contract termsUnderstanding of the global chemical supply baseManufacturing process & critical feedstocksExperience with contracting directly with producersProven track record of driving costs down for raw materialsDeep understanding of the chemical market and regulatory requirementsExcellent oral and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skillsMicrosoft Office, Sales Force, Ariba and SAP preferredFluent English, Spanish and/or Portuguese a plusOur Company:
