We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Category Insights Manager to join our diverse team in Tokyo. The Category Insights Manager will take on the lead in uncovering Insights & Foresights for consumer, customer and competitor within the Japan New Categories (NC) as we venture into a multi-categories landscape. The role will effectively be key in the determination of key business questions and utilize research & data to produce agile, high value actionable insights.

The Category Insights Manager will furthermore provide critical support in delivering rapid & impactful insights mining & analysis utilising innovative approaches to aid business decision making to drive scale in our brands and protect the heartland base of our portfolio. With a strong focus on understanding the digital behaviour of consumers, this role will drive insights into action through on-going analysis across various digital data sets to augment and expand understanding of key adult nicotine user groups.

Role Responsibilities:

Work together with internal collaborators to pinpoint and tackle fundamental business inquiries.

Craft and implement qualitative and quantitative research studies, including digital analytics, to understand consumer behavior and market trends.

Analyze and integrate data from various sources, such as consumer surveys, sales data, and digital platforms, to generate actionable insights.

Manage external research agencies and ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs.

Produce impactful presentations and reports to convey insights and recommendations to customers.

Find opportunities to improve research processes, tools, and methodologies.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Analytics, or related field.

5 years or more prior experience within a similar role – business intelligence / market research / consumer insights / digital analytics.

Experienced in leading and conducting wide range of qualitative and quantitative research.

Advanced understanding of research methodologies and solid analytic skills including: ability to synthesize information, identify trends, reduce complexity and identify key opportunities.

Project management experience and strong capability of leading and prioritising several competing tasks for various collaborators.

Proficiency in English & Japanese and/or Korean, possessing strong interpersonal skills.

Outstanding storytelling skills with the ability to present information in a simple and compelling format that has practical application.

Desirable Skills & Experiences:

Familiar with digital analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Sprinklr (Social Media Listening), Similarweb, Search Analytics tools, PowerBI.

Experience in both research agency as well as client side.

Experience in Tobacco category.
