Role Definition

This position will be responsible for the procurement of Ground transportation, Freight Forwarding, Customs Brokerage services for Caterpillar in Japan.

Responsibilities

Developing, managing and executing procurement activities to ensure capacity, service and market competitive price objectives are met.

Ensure transportation procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations and company internal control policies.

Work with transportation operation team to define business requirements (statements of work), incorporate requirements into bid tool and execute competitive sourcing event.

Lead contract negotiations with transportation service providers to achieve service and price that meet operational objectives also make sure all contracts provide the Caterpillar Enterprise with appropriate legal protections.

Develop & evaluate transportation service providers, conduct supplier reviews and maintain good relationships with service providers.

Collect market intelligence including industry trend, new regulations ect…

Drive visibility & maintain transportation rates & contracts through new or existing technology platforms (Salesforce, Keelvar, BY TMS etc)

Degree & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or above in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.

5 to 8 years of procurement or operation experience in logistics or supply chain is preferred.

Strong analytical and research skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools.

Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-cultural team environment.

Proficiency in business English.

• Coaches juniors on selecting, evaluating, and managing suppliers.
• Conducts periodic reviews of work effort, progress, issues, and successes in supplier relationship establishment and management.
• Evaluates the impact of SRM on the organization's different financials.
• Refines organizational processes for establishing and maintaining supplier partnerships.

Strategic Sourcing: Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.

• Works with various basic components of strategic sourcing, such as data analysis, market research and purchasing budgets examination.
• Participates in enhancing institutional sourcing process continuously including identifying improvement opportunities.
• Conducts strategic sourcing activities in a limited environment.
• Follows relevant standards, policies and practices regarding strategic sourcing.
• Assists senior sourcing professionals with strategic sourcing in multiple environments.
