Here’s the scoop - Summary

The Category Analyst, is a critical company role supporting the Category Management Team to capture and organize relevant data into actionable insights using a variety of data sources, distilling them into impactful reporting, and leveraging powerful data visualization tools.

They will help develop story-driven insights and in-depth analyses to influence strategic business decisions internally as well as externally with our valued customers.  On occasion, the role comes with direct exposure to senior leadership and strategic customers to help present and support the implementation of growth plans.

What a typical day looks like

Work across multiple data sources (POS & Household Panel data)Create dashboards and key reports (Power BI/SQL/Excel)Distill primary and secondary research down to easy-to-digest insightsPrepare monthly reports and/or manage special projects, as directed or assignedDevelop, enhance and optimize business analytics to deliver critical insights and fuel growth agendasEngage in internal analyses, research, product analyses, pricing and assortment strategiesCollaborate with category management colleagues to enhance analytic processes and insightsDevelop and maintain successful professional working relationships with relevant internal corporate departments and external distributor/customer partners, including supporting / attending joint business planning meetingsTrain cross functional teammates on initiativesProactively anticipate business and insights needsMaintain competitive knowledge to help inform sales strategiesPerform other tasks as required or assigned

What you'll bring

Post-secondary education in Business or related field (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent)Minimum three years related insights and/or analytics experience, preferably within a consumer-packaged goods environmentData/Insights mining expert with syndicated tools (POS essential; household panel a plus)Experienced in creating and building tools and analysis processes (Power BI or other data visualization experience)Customer service orientation with the ability to effectively communicate across diverse stakeholder groups both internal and externalStrong analytical skills and proven experience translating data into actionable insightsStrong project management skills and the ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute according to timelinesStrong communication / presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex scenarios to various audiencesHunger for continuous learning and self improvementPositive contributor to a fun, collaborative, fast-paced team cultureSome extended hours of work may be required

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.  Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate).  Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
