Catastrophe Modeller – South East Asia and Korea

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Catastrophe Modeller – South East Asia and Korea at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in the Seoul. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Guy Carpenter’s South East Asia and Korea Actuarial Advisory team helps our clients deliver on growth and manage changing risk strategies in an ever-changing economic environment.  Working with Broking, Strategic Advisory, Peril Advisory, Ratings Advisory, the Chief Actuary’s Office and CAT Advisory, we provide our clients solutions to optimize reinsurance placement, increasing capital efficiency and support new growth opportunities.  We act as both an advisor and an advocate for our clients and support them in a myriad of ways.  

 

This opportunity is ideal for a suitable candidate to apply their analytics knowledge and project management skills to a number of high-profile clients while developing their consulting and leadership abilities. Our team is seeking candidates for the following position located in Korea office. 

What we will count on you to: 

Deliver catastrophe modelling and analytical services to clients and colleagues 

Utilise commercial and in-house models to generate catastrophe modelling outputs, with appropriate interpretation of results. 

Conduct catastrophe model evaluation studies for Korea and South East Asia  

Integrate climate model outputs with catastrophe risk models to refine the assumptions and projections  

Provide real-time reporting and post-event analysis of natural catastrophes  

Get involved in the in-house catastrophe model development project

Have a discussion with clients on CAT modelling and climate related issues  

Collaborate with actuarial teams to deliver analytical outputs for clients and prospects. 

Build and maintain strong client relationships, addressing challenges and resolving issues promptly  

Providing technical training to clients and colleagues 

Act as a trusted advisor to brokers and clients on catastrophe modeling and model development, aligning strategies with risk tolerance and market trends 

 

What you need to have: 

Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a quantitative or natural sciences discipline such as Geosciences, Meteorology, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Finance, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related fields 

7+ years of relevant work experience preferred.

Proficient in English and Korean, both verbally and written 

Proficiency in data management and processing; experience with SQL Server and Alteryx is advantageous. 

Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex analyses for diverse audiences. 

Capacity to organize and synthesize large datasets effectively.
