The Specialty Human Services Division (SHS) is proud to serve the Human and Social Services sector for more than 40 years. SHS works with agents to address the coverage needs and loss exposures of more than 16,000 social service and non-profit organizations across the country.

SHS is currently looking for a Casualty Claims Specialist / Sr. Claims Specialist in our downtown Cincinnati office.  The job grade and title will depend on the successful applicant’s level of experience. This will be a hybrid position consisting of 3 days in-office and 2 days work from home.

 
Responsibilities:

Investigates and resolves commercial general liability, professional liability, and abuse claims: Reviews and evaluates coverage and / or liability.Secures and analyzes necessary information (i.e., contracts, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, reports or other documents) in the investigation of claims.Works toward the resolution of claims files, and may attend arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.  Establish reserves and negotiate settlements within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.Conveys complex information (coverage, decisions, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.Ensures that claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.Other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceExperience: 3-10 years of related experience handling liability claims requiredStrong critical, analytical and investigative skills.Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.Strong negotiation skills.Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and have the ability to learn additional software programs.Multi-line adjusters are encouraged to apply.  .
