As a Casual Food Service Assistant at Sodexo in Aldeburgh Community Hospital, you’ll play an important part in preparing and serving nutritious, comforting meals that support patient recovery and wellbeing. You’ll also help maintain a clean, safe environment in the kitchen and dining areas. With a cheerful attitude and great customer service, your presence can make a real difference in someone’s day. What you’ll do:
Perform daily machinery checks (cables, filters, etc.) and report faults.Monitor stock levels, reorder supplies as needed, and keep cleaning/food storage areas tidy.Remove waste properly and ensure compliance with cleaning schedules; complete tick sheets.Participate in hand hygiene and cleaning audits as required.Receive, store, and rotate chilled, frozen, and dry provisions according to HACCP standards.Report pest sightings and security concerns promptly.Complete daily HACCP documentation (fridge/freezer temps, food temps, waste logs).Issue and collate inpatient menus daily.Collect, wash, and return water jugs to the ward.Lock/unlock kitchen, record opening/closing procedures.Support and mentor new staff, demonstrating procedures and inducting them.Work across other Soft facilities roles/sites as directed.Maintain professionalism, introduce yourself to patients and staff.Communicate effectively with colleagues across sites.Handle internal and external phone calls.What you bring:

Previous experience in a catering roleGood knowledge of catering methodology and proceduresBasic computer skillsGood communication skills; able to understand written and spoken EnglishAbility to work independently or as part of a teamUnderstanding of confidentialityGood customer care skillsAttention to detailAble to work under pressure and meet deadlinesDesirable
