Job Description:

Function Summary

To run and maintain various packaging machines at a rate that is consistent with line standards.  Monitor and document the fin seals, end seals, and code date integrity.  Verify that the operations of the machines are done in a timely manner as outlined by supervision and Quality Assurance Department, while insuring that GMP’s are followed at all times.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Essential

Check schedule for product being produced and line for which you are responsible.

Properly adjust wrapper to accommodate the schedule demands to include machine setups involving the former, positioning label machines, setting pause time on crimper (jaws), set film length, setting appropriate temperatures corresponding to film demands, adjusting feed chain as needed for product variation and adjusting fed rails to accommodate all product variations as determined by the schedule.

Apply labels to packages in a uniform manner according to product specifications.

Test the smell of the film.  Reject substandard film stock and notify your Team Leader and the Material Handler.

Relieve team members as needed.

Coordinate and execute changeovers in an efficient and accurate manner as dictated by the schedule.

Understand and comply with the allergen policy as set up by the Quality Assurance Department.

Assist with the training of team members.

Weigh and record package weights as required.

Monitor and record that the metal detector is working properly.

Properly fill out and initial all production documents associated with our area of responsibility.

Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy.

Understand the scrap and regrind procedures and assist in the removal of line waste.  Report all accumulated scrap weights to your Team Leader at the end of the run, while emptying containers for the next shift.

Maintain a clean work area and execute any duties assigned on the housekeeping check off sheets.

Notify maintenance and or your Team Leader of any repairs or adjustments that are required.  Fill out and submit work orders for non-emergency repairs to your Team Leader.

Follow and promote all safety policies.

Assist in the rework of all salvageable products when necessary to include picking scrap off and putting in reusable containers.

Perform and all duties necessary to meet Safe Quality Food (SQF), Company, and or Government requirements / standards as prioritized by the Company.

Responsible for reporting food safety and quality problems to the appropriate personnel, as well as follow quality and safety programs and policies themselves in order to ensure products made here meets the highest standards possible
