Case Manager (Research Assistant) Job Details Job Location Dandridge - 207 W Main - Dandridge, TN Position Type Full Time Education Level 2 Year Degree Salary Range $18.00 - $20.00 Hourly Description Position Summary: The Research Assistant/Case Manager will serve as a dual role in supporting both the research and direct client care within the Medication Assisted Treatment program. The individual will serve as a key member of the Research and Evaluation team for all activities affiliated with the implementation of the Research and Evaluation plan of WestCare. Additionally, working closely with the Licensed Professional Counselor to provide assessments, counseling, re-integration, and/or rehabilitation services to program participants. Both roles must align to improve the outcome of the program and the participants success in recovery. Essential Job Functions: + Serve as a member of the Research and Evaluation Team; + Collect baseline, discharge, and follow-up data on clients; + Maintain compliance with consent and privacy policy & procedure;; + Enter client data on time in the clinical, federal, state and statistical database as required. + Monitor quantitative and qualitative data collection processes; + Maintain a tracking and follow-up log for all clients; + Engage and build rapport with all clients to assist with tracking and follow-up; + Administer Client Perception Surveys; + Maintain a Research and Evaluation file for each client; + Produce reports or assist in the development of reports as required by the Senior Scientist of Evaluation and Outcomes or the Regional Director of Evaluation and Quality; + Provide feedback to the Program Director and/or Regional Vice President regarding attainment of goals and objectives as well as data collection; + Provides case management services and assistance to program participants struggling with substance abuse, and those in recovery; + Assesses the needs, conditions, and desires of assigned program participants; + Educates and refers program participants to community agencies and businesses that appropriately address their needs for food, shelter, clothing, employment, transportation, etc. + Assists participants with establishing or re-establishing community support systems; + Participates in clinical staffing decisions regarding the participant’s current strengths and resources, and their need for additional resources; + Completes documentation of services provided in a timely manner; + Prepares Discharge Summaries; + Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation + Perform any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Essential Qualifications: + Must have familiarity with various cultural groups, of various socio-economic groups, and knowledge of substance misuse, recovery support and behavioral health. + Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. + Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. + Valid driver’s license and the ability to qualify for WestCare vehicle insurance; + Ability to pass criminal background investigation; and + Ability to obtain CPR Certification, First Aid Certification and an Annual Tuberculosis test Education: + Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology or other field related to the position is preferred; Working Conditions: + Must be willing to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends) to accommodate the work and school schedules of the clients + Must work in the field when necessary at community sites including schools, correctional facilities, job sites, client homes, etc. to collect required follow-up and evaluation data Essential Physical and Mental Demands of the Job The employee must be able to perform the following essential duties and activities with or without accommodation: Physical Demands: + Requires mobility and physical activity: Having an adequate range of body motion and mobility to work in an office, residential, or outdoor environment including standing and walking (even and uneven surfaces), sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. Use of computer and telephone systems is required which includes coordination of eye and hand, and fine manipulation by the hands (typing, writing, and working with files). + Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in physically abusive situations through the use of approved physical de-escalation techniques. + Requires talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is required to impart oral information to employees, clients, patients, and the public, and in those activities in which the employee is required to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. + Requires hearing: Hearing is required to receive and communicate detailed information through oral communication. + Requires seeing: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and at distance. This factor is required to complete paperwork for many of the employee’s essential job functions and to observe client behavior and activities in and out of the facility. + The normal work routine involves no exposure to human blood, body fluids or tissues. However, exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be readily available to every employee. Mental Demands: + Requires the ability to collect and analyze complex numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions. + Requires the ability to work and cooperate with clients, co-workers, managers, the public and employees at all levels to exchange ideas, information, instructions and opinions. + Requires the ability to work under stress and in emotionally charged settings. + Requires the ability to defend oneself and clients in mentally/verbally abusive situations through the use of approved mental/verbal de-escalation techniques.
