Purpose

The Career & Professional Development Manager will provide high-level career coaching and program management to the career services team within the LBJ Office of Student Affairs & Admission (OSAA).

Responsibilities

Career CoachingProvide individual and group career coaching to undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of job search skills, negotiation, and career management.Conduct workshops, presentations, and other career coaching activities to increase student success in networking, resume and portfolio building, interviewing, and other activities that enhance student and alumni success in the internship and job search process.Work with students to develop personalized career plans.
 Career Programming and Event Management Serve as implementation and operational lead for all phases of advanced career development programming and events for undergraduate and graduate LBJ students.In conjunction with leadership and other career management colleagues, build out robust career services strategic plan and implement.Lead on-campus employment process including student resources, search strategies, and a database of open opportunities.Manage domestic and international internship programs as well as other experiential opportunities for students.

Employer Relations LeadServe as the employer relations lead, focusing on outreach to new and potential employers, fielding external inquiries and increasing professional connections.Build and maintain updated employer relations pipeline and database with professional opportunities.Create and implement a robust communications plan to engage with employers and keep them informed and excited about LBJ offerings.Develop and execute company information sessions, workshops, employer meet-and-greet networking events, annual career fairs and other recruiting events.

Alumni Liaison and Mentorship ProgramsPartner with the alumni relations office to lead the alumni mentorship and attend alumni networking and engagement opportunities.

Student SupervisionSupervise graduate student employees and career/professional development student ambassadors including recruitment, training and host regular meetings.

MarketingLead marketing efforts to increase awareness of career and professional development events and resources.

Career Outcomes DataLead data collection and dissemination process, including career outcomes, career program evaluation, and student needs assessments.

Orientation and Summer ProgrammingCollaborate with director and student affairs staff to coordinate new student orientation, summer yield events pertaining to career and professional development, and other new student onboarding activities.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in public/student affairs, government or related field. Two years of professional experience in career services, recruitment or in a career coaching role in higher education.Excellent resume writing, interviewing, and job search skills. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills. Knowledge of recruitment practices in various employment sectors and industries.Event planning and project management skills, including effective prioritizing, managing timelines, and coordinating resources in dynamic environments, while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in counseling, student affairs, or related field. Three or more years of professional experience coaching, advising, or mentoring, including building trust, identifying needs, providing support, offering actionable guidance, and ensuring follow-up.Five or more years of work experience in career services.Five or more years of experience building and maintaining relationships with students, alumni, faculty, employers, and recruiters.Experience strategically creating and leading student programming. ​

Salary Range

$70,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

Usual office environment.  May perform work on concurrent multiple projects.  Extended work hours may be required.  Travel may be required.

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
