PurposeProvide career coaching to undergraduate students in the College of Liberal Arts at UT Austin. Support students in exploring career paths, preparing application materials, and developing professional competencies. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Career Coaching. This is a three-year fixed term position.
ResponsibilitiesCareer Coaching: Provide Liberal Arts students comprehensive individual and group career coaching services including: defining career goals; developing career plans; navigating and understanding a variety of industries; internship assistance; resume and cover letter critiques; personal statement and CV reviews; guiding students through the graduate school admissions process in the humanities and social sciences; connecting students with resources. Provide both case and behavioral mock interview services. Share information and collaborate with recruiting team to bridge student and employer needs.Program Management: Plan, coordinate, and present specialized programming focused on career pathways for liberal arts majors. Develop, implement, and coordinate a variety of workshops, events, and career preparation opportunities. Network and collaborate with employers, student groups, and other campus constituencies to promote career connections. Serve as a point person for outreach events to promote Liberal Arts Career Services programming. Maintain and manage Psychology Canvas Resource pages.Administrative and Team Support: Represent Liberal Arts Career Services in on-campus and off-campus meetings. Research and create career-related content for student, alumni, and employer collateral. Assist career services staff with office events, including career fairs, and contributing to the success of the team as a collaborative partner. Attend weekly staff and professional development meetings. Enter and maintain timely and accurate electronic coaching notes in 12twenty. Regularly track and report appointment volume, workshop attendance, and event participation data to help assess student engagement and inform programming decisions.Other related duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in humanities, social sciences, education, counseling or related field. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in career coaching, higher education, human resources, or recruiting. Strong resume writing, editing, and job search skills. Demonstrated project management abilities, interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and excellence in oral and written communication. Exceptional event planning skills + comfort presenting in large group settings. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree. Demonstrated experience working in higher education career services, or graduate school admissions coaching. Experience critiquing resumes and internship/job applications. Experience reviewing graduate school applications including personal statements and CVs. Experience with AI tools/software including ChatGPT. Familiarity with UT departments and processes. Proficiency in data management and reporting. Experience with cloud-based software, including Handshake, Symplicity, 12twenty and/or Canvas.
Salary Range$60,000 + depending on qualifications
