Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cardiovascular Transplant Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will be board-certified in cardiothoracic surgery, fellowship-trained in heart and lung transplantation, and demonstrate a proven high-volume record in either heart or lung transplantation. This position requires a commitment to integrated clinical practice, education and research.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in the following areas:

Board certification in cardiothoracic surgeryFellowship trained in heart and lung transplantationProven high volume record in heart or lung transplantationMinimum numbers to be UNOS certified in heart or lung transplantationScientific Registry of Transplant Recipients good outcomesAbility to perform adult cardiac surgery with focus in CABG and EndocarditisSolid performance in acute circulatory supportJCAHO Ventricular Assist Device certification or durable VAD numbers to achieve itHeart and Lung Donor Selection skillsA verifiable record of academic productivityEvidence of teaching to peers, residents, fellows or medical studentsInterpersonal abilities to work in a team, ideally with leadership skillsPrevious history of intramural, industry or federal funding is preferredAbility take call outside business hours in heart and lung transplantation and/or acute circulatory support is mandatory

Compensation Detail

The minimum starting salary for surgical specialties may range from $290, 000 to $830,500. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate will vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
