Where you will be working: Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth: 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., Fort Worth, TX 76104 Work environment: Cardiac Cath Lab Work hours: PRN-As needed Department highlights: Fast-Paced, high-volume department Team oriented department Things you need for the position: Education: Associate Degree in Applied Science required or Completion of an accredited program in cardiovascular technology (Must obtain RCIS within six (6) months) required or High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years' work experience in invasive cardiology required Experience: * One (1) year vascular or cardiac angiography experience preferred or * Two (2) years' experience with high school diploma required * Two (2) years Cath Lab experience strongly preferred Licensure and Certifications: ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists upon hire required and GMRT-General Medical Radiologic Technologist (if ARRT only) upon hire preferred or RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (Obtain within 6 months if graduate from Cardiovascular Accredited Program) upon hire required and LMRT - Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (if RCIS only) upon hire preferred or RCES - Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (For Electrophysiology Labs (EP) only) upon hire required and BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly) required and Position Responsibilities: Texas Health Interventional Radiology Technologists are responsible for assessing and recognizing the patient's emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions. In addition to the required qualifications, a successful Interventional Radiology Tech will: Patient Care 1. Uses multidisciplinary, team-oriented actions 2. Assesses and recognizes the patient's emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions 3. Prepares room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies) 4. Checks physician orders and exam requisitions using time-out procedures 5. Greets and acknowledges patient, using two forms of ID 6. Obtains patient history 7. Handles patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices, and monitor patient during imaging 8. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment 9. Uses proper body mechanics when assisting patient 10. Under the supervision of a provider and in accordance with regulatory code requirements, will provide assistance to the provider while administering contrast media. 11. Processes patient information, displays proper phone etiquette and transports patients as needed Imaging Procedures, Quality and Processing 1. Explains procedures to patient or guardian / family member if applicable prior to exam 2. Positions patient to correct anatomical area of interest 3. Performs complex procedures including age related criteria and developmental considerations 4. Adjusts technique parameters appropriately for age related factors 5. Assists licenses practitioner or provider with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique 6. Maintains attention to details 7. Utilizes proper downtime procedures for PACS and HIS / RIS 8. Correctly sends and transfers images to PACS 9. Prints laser images from modality or PACS 10. Coordinates with Centralized Scheduling and other modalities Equipment Operation and Maintenance 1. Adjusts technical factors 2. Operates, cares for and maintains equipment 3. Applies knowledge of physics and accessories 4. Troubleshoots and properly documents equipment malfunction 5. Maintains equipment and room to sanitary standards 6. Stocks supplies 7. Exchanges and maintenance of film badges within designated time frames 8. Demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of quality control and regulatory standards Professional Accountability and Partnership 1. Maintains and enhances technical skills and technology advancement 2. Attends departmental continuing education, meetings, and checks email 3. Identifies, troubleshoots and initiates quality improvement 4. Manages time and re-prioritizes as necessary 5.
