Cardiopulmonary Tech/Aide *Schedule:*Schedule is 4 10-hour shifts per week to include a mandatory 10 days of call per month. Join us on this meaningful journey where your skills, compassion and dedication will make a remarkable difference in the lives of those we serve. *How you’ll contribute* A Cardiopulmonary Tech who excels in this role: * Assists surgical team during the surgical procedure(s), understands the procedures being performed and can anticipate the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during procedure. * Transports to decontamination room upon completion of the surgical procedure. * Handles instruments and supplies correctly and ensures their proper functioning. Maintains instruments in good working order and assures the availability of instruments needed for surgical cases. * Maintains sterile field and counts all instruments, sponges, needles etc, needed for each case. Has necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures. * Cleans, assembles, and prepares instruments, equipment, and supplies for sterilization when needed. Follows proper sterilization processes. Participates in testing and recording of all biotesting for the sterilizers and autoclaves in the department as needed. * Ability to understand surgeries, instrumentation, and equipment needs of the surgeon during a surgery and ability to set up each case in an efficient and effective manner. * Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards. Assists the team during the procedure. Prepares Cath Lab with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments * Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients. Returns equipment to proper storage and assists with case clean-up and preps for next case. * Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory. Performs monitoring duties during catheterization procedures. * Plans, assesses, and collaborates with other departments/hospitals to provide a continuum of care for patients upon discharge/transfer. Responsible for chart review, making sure all necessary documents for procedures are present. Documents patient assessments, patient care activities and pain management with RN oversight. * Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. * Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs. * Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. * Demonstrates knowledge of rehabilitation exercise equipment including but not limited to treadmills, cycle ergometer, upper body ergometers, step machines, and free weights. * Assist the RN in essential duties while performing patient care. Communicates with the Charge RN and Cardiac Rehab Medical Director and the patient’s physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition as appropriate. * Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts. Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff. *Why join us* We believe that investing in our employees is the first step to providing excellent patient care.
