Cardiac Special Procedures Tech II
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** Department: Cath Lab, EP Lab Hours: Day Shift, 24-40 hour per week available **Position Purpose:** Special Procedure Technologist II scrubs and gowns for surgery to assist the cardiologist in all aspects of invasive cardiovascular procedures. Performs a variety of specialized and complex invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular procedures. Assists the cardiologist in all surgical and diagnostic procedures. Prepares patients and assists in monitoring the patient’s condition during invasive cardiovascular procedures. **What the Cardiac Special Procedures Tech will do:** + Functions as part of the cardiovascular lab team, assisting the cardiologist and team leader in the performance of routine cardiac diagnostic procedures and in minor surgical procedures. + Preps for incoming patients and compiles and summarizes patient histories from physician letters and notes. + Assists in monitoring the patient’s condition during invasive cardiac procedures and identifies and communicates deteriorating patient conditions to the team leader. + Scrubs for procedures/surgery and closely assists the cardiologist with invasive cardiovascular procedures, including manipulation of cardiac catheter and guide wire utilizing aseptic technique. + Receives request and schedules patients for specialized diagnostic procedures, arranging for patient transport to the procedural area and to a post procedure location. Relays patient report to pertinent nursing staff. + Attends Cath Interventional Meetings, Department/Staff meetings, and/or Ground Rounds in line with ACC/SCAI requirements. + Provides accurate angiographic image identification, processes cine-angiographic images, and determines appropriate image quality control. Delivers images to appropriate location for interpretation and results. + Maintain certification, meets CEU requirements, and stays current on cardiovascular scope. Cross-training between Cath/EP labs may be required. + Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, employees, and visitors to Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. + Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System + Additional duties as assigned by the hiring manager/supervisor. **What the Cardiac Specialist Procedures Tech will need:** + Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education in Cardiovascular Technology or related field required.RCIS/RCES (CCI) or CI (ARRT)certification preferred.BLS/ACLS Required. + Ability to recognize normal and abnormal ECG rhythms, ischemia and infarction patterns. + Understands basic concepts in aseptic technique. + Mechanical/mathematical aptitude needed for calibration and operation of equipment. + Ability to interpret medical technology. + Knowledge of potential radiation hazards and appropriate safety practices and procedures. + Manual dexterity to assist during invasive procedures. + Analytical and clinical ability to monitor patient condition during cardiac procedure. ​ **Total Rewards and Benefits:** + Competitive compensation, **DAILYPAY** + Benefits effective Day One!
