Job Description
As a Cardiac Nurse Educator, you will play a vital role in monitoring patient health metrics such as vitals, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. You will be responsible for reading heart monitors and charting results accurately. Additionally, you will work alongside providers to write patient plans and educate patients on exercise regimens and machine use.
ResponsibilitiesEducate patients on cardiac health and necessary lifestyle changes.Submit patient visit orders including labs, tests, and medications.Guide patients through the next steps of their care, such as new medications, tests, referrals, and procedures.Communicate effectively with providers and management at all levels.Handle prior authorizations for insurance approval on new medications.Essential SkillsRegistered Nurse in Missouri with BLS certification.Experience in cardiac rehabilitation, medical terminology, and heart monitor operations.Ability to recognize dysrhythmia and understand the pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease.Proficiency in cardiopulmonary assessment and basic computer skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsGraduation from an accredited school of nursing with a BSN or equivalent.Preferred experience in exercise physiology and clinical exercise physiology.Experience in educational planning and teaching.A minimum of 1-year experience in ICU, CCU, or other critical care nursing is required.A minimum of 1-year experience in Cardiac Rehabilitation is preferred.Experience and skills in working with older adults are important.Work Environment
The position operates on a Monday, Wednesday, and Friday schedule from 7 am to 5 pm, with the possibility to adjust to a 40-hour work week if needed. The role involves interacting with approximately 20 patients per day, with each session lasting one hour. You may assist the provider with up to four patients at a time.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $29.00 - $35.00/hr.
