Position Overview:

The Cardiology Device Technician (CDT) provides technical and clinical support in the management of Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs) within ambulatory care settings. This entry-to-mid-level role focuses on remote monitoring, patient education, and assisting physicians, electrophysiologists, and/or Cardiac Device Specialists (CDS) in device evaluations and follow-up care. The CDT supports device interrogations, organizes and reviews device data, and assists patients with remote monitoring equipment, connectivity, and troubleshooting. Working under supervision, the CDT contributes to accurate data management, timely patient care, and adherence to system-level workflows, while developing skills and knowledge to advance within the cardiac device field. Mid-level experienced Cardiology Device Technicians may also perform in-person CIED interrogations and programming under the direct supervision of a physician, CDS, or other qualified provider.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

BLS- Basic Life Support Certifications

Cardiac Device Training by CIED Manufacturer certificate of completion within 12 months

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

Recent relevant experience in a healthcare or technical role, preferably in cardiology, electrophysiology, or medical device support.

Prior experience with cardiac implantable devices or external cardiac monitoring (e.g., ECGs, Holter monitors, telemetry) preferred but not required.

Demonstrated aptitude through training programs will also be considered.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge, technical skills and abilities to perform the technical aspects of the essential functions.

Attention to details.

Ability to write legibly.

Basic understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and electrophysiology.

Familiarity with ECG rhythm recognition; willingness to complete structured training in device and rhythm interpretation.

Strong organizational skills; ability to manage patient schedules and clinical documentation.

Effective written and verbal communication skills with patients, families, and clinical staff.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while developing independence in role.

Comfort using computers, EMR systems, and manufacturer device platforms (training provided).

Pay Range is $35.68 to $44.59 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package. ​
