**Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, part of Tufts Medicine, is seeking experienced** **Cardiac Cath. Special Procedure Tech.-First Asst.-SEIU** **to join our team.** **This is a great opportunity to work close to home and avoid commuting traffic at a community hospital with a great culture!** **Location:** **Melrose/Wakefield Hospital - 585 Lebanon Street - Melrose, MA** **Hours: 40 hours per week / Shift Times 7:00am - 5:30pm** **On Call shifts required one night per week & one weekend per month** **On call shifts may be evening/overnight per dept scheduling operations** **(i.e 5:30pm-7am)** **Job Overview** Performs and assists with Cardiac Catheterizations, Angioplasty, Peripheral Vascular Procedures, Interventional Radiology Procedures, and Pacemakers. Scrubs in all procedures, assists the physician by facilitating injection of contrast, holding wires, assists in accessing the patient. Anticipates appropriate angles for imaging based on the procedure. Takes call for Cardiac and Endovascular program. Continuously strives to develop/improve systems and relationships with all customers. Participates in the orientation of new staff to the Cardiac and Endovascular Center. **Minimum Qualifications** **:** 1. Graduate of approved School of Radiological Technology. 2. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an Interventional Cardiac Catherization Lab or a Special Procedure Lab. 3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 4. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. **Preferred Qualifications** **:** 1. Additional training in Cardiovascular Technology. **Duties and Responsibilities** **:** The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. 1. Properly set up of the procedure room. 2. Operates specialized angiography equipment for technique selection for processing digital images. 3. Employs special imaging techniques to enhance the diagnostic quality of the radiographic image. 4. Operates specialized injectors for intravascular administration of contrast media. 5. Assists Invasive/Interventional Cardiologist and or Interventional Radiologist and or Vascular Surgeon as scrub technologist during Cardiac Catheterization, Primary Angioplasty, Pacemakers and Peripheral Vascular Procedures. 6. Under the direction of the Interventional Cardiologist and or Interventional Radiologist and or Vascular Surgeon positions table, assists with access to the artery, holds wires, assists with stent placements and the Angiojet. 7. Works collaboratively with peers, physicians and other disciplines to provide comprehensive patient care. 8. Completes the procedure in an effective and efficient manner. 9. Completes administrative portion of procedure: tech edit/ GE PACS or AGFA Heartlab PACS, labeling of CD, making of 2nd CD per case. 10. Under the supervision and guidance of a registered nurse, may act as a recorder on the Hemodynamic physiologic monitoring system during a cardiac catheterization procedure. 11. Supports the Heartlab PACS System as a superuser. a)Ensures PAC system is working on a daily basis. b) Works closely with IS and other external customers to support secure integration of clinical performance. c) Works closely with PACS Manager and other superusers. 12. Competent to operate all equipment in the department. Must be able to transport patients from wheelchair or patient slide board to and from table. Able to assist in lifting of patients to proper position. 13. Complies with safety, infection control and environmental control policies and procedures for the department. 14. Completes yearly competency for the department. Attends educational opportunities when offered that are related to procedures/diagnosis specific to CCL and interventional radiology patient population. 15. Attends monthly staff meetings. **Physical Requirements** **:** 1. Frequent standing in lead apron, lead vest; occasional sitting, walking and lifting of 30-35 lbs. 2. Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate computer keyboard and lifting and transport of patients. 3. Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations; observe patients, read monitors and document; hear audible equipment alarms. **Skills & Abilities:** 1. Knowledge of medical terminology. 2.
