Capital Markets Senior Business Analyst is responsible for assisting leadership in building and maintaining financial and operational reporting and analytics to aid Home Mortgage Capital Markets management strategic decision making and operational risk oversight. This role will engage across Capital Markets functional areas, providing data analysis and insight into topics including pricing margin management, pipeline interest rate risk, mortgage portfolio performance, etc.Key functions:
Support pricing strategy and tactics through new initiative development, financial impact analysis and new reporting & analytics on mortgage pipeline, profitability, servicing key metrics.Create consolidated cross-channel data sources through collaboration with business owners, finance, and technology partners. Provide subject matter expertise and manage the migration of siloed data sources into a centralized data warehouse or repository.Support balance sheet optimization strategy through loan sale transaction data support and portfolio segmentation.Support interest rate risk management, hedging, and QRM model management by assisting in continued development and maintenance of the current analytics suite.As needed, support cross-functional projects from a Capital Markets standpoint via data analysis, pro forma projections, or business case development.Create business and strategy review decks that incorporate relevant analytics as requested by leadership, and be prepared to present to upper management if requested.Primary responsibilities include
Build financial and operational analytics that drive short-term and long-term business decision making.Ensure accuracy of and distribute reporting to downstream users and senior leaders at predefined intervals.Participate in discussions regarding various elements of Capital Markets business development and strategy while both opining on observed trends and producing ad-hoc analytics as needed.Engage with various groups within Capital Markets to better understand the mechanisms driving financial and operational relationships on which analytics are builtSkills/Competencies
Exceptional aptitude for abstract thinking and logical reasoningFoundational understanding of mortgage banking and agency fixed income marketsFunctional understanding of financial modelling and DCF analysisAdvanced understanding of residential mortgage originationsExpert ability to visually represent complex financial and operational relationships in a clear mannerExpert ability to draw and communicate accurate conclusions from complex analyticsExperience creating & communicating pro-forma presentations to senior leaders Comfortable producing unilateral, ad-hoc analytics to facilitate strategic decision makingQualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials
Required Qualifications7+ years of quantitative management reporting experience3+ years of experience at a mortgage lenderDatabase management experience with Microsoft SQLData aggregation and reporting experience using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and/or LookerSTEM, Finance, or Economics undergraduate degreePreferred Qualifications7+ years of mortgage capital markets experience in an analytics-focused capacityExperience with a mortgage quantitative risk management system (QRM, Polypaths, Compass Analytics)Programming experience (Python, Javascript, Powershell, and/or VBA)Expert SQL, Excel, Tableau and Power Point skillsetsHours & Work Schedule
