Campus Chaplain

Job Summary:
The chaplain in this position would provide informal one-to-one spiritual support for Upstate students and faculty, as well as more formal requested programs, consultation for faculty on matters of religion/spirituality, serve on designated committees, task forces and work groups related to the Upstate campus, and provide any campus ceremonial functions. The Campus Chaplain would be part of the staff of the Department of Spiritual Care and report to the departmental director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate degree in religious, theological or spiritual studies or related field, from an accredited institution. Minimum of one unit of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education, or equivalency. Credentialed and authorized as a religious professional appropriate to ones own religious community and/or recognized faith tradition. Commitment to a student-centered approach with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a culture of safety and environment that promotes belonging. Skilled in initiating and working independently with excellent speaking, writing and organization skills. References should indicate a high degree of integrity, ability to utilize consultation, and serve as a respected member of a care team that focuses on the greater good of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference given to persons with earned Ph.D. in religion or the behavioral sciences, or Doctor of Ministry degree from an ATS accredited seminary. Experience in a comparable professional position in the religious and spiritual life office of an accredited college or university preferred.
