The Camera team is seeking a mechanical engineer to own the mechanical design of high-volume camera depth modules (shipping examples include FaceID and Lidar for iPhone). As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll help create the innovative depth sensing technology in each new generation of Apple products. You’ll be a part of the design process for everything involved in our depth camera systems, from sensor to lens. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to design, develop, manufacture, and test depth-sensing modules for Apple products. **Description** Your role will be to own and drive all mechanical aspects of a camera depth module from concept to mass production. You will create the CAD design, 2D drawings, and tolerance analysis for components and assemblies. You will engage with our overseas mechanical vendors, review DFM feedback, and approve inspection reports. As dimensional data becomes available during the NPI cycle, you will analyze the data to show trends and identify possible areas of concern. Day-to-day, you will collaborate with optical, electrical, reliability, process, and design lead engineers. You will also present designs and data in large forums to cross-functional teams. **Minimum Qualifications** + BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience + 2+ years of CAD experience + Experience with GD&T design + Experience with dimensional tolerance analysis + Experience working in a cross-functional team environment **Preferred Qualifications** + Opto-mechanical or optical design experience + Electro-mechanical design experience, such as working with EEs on PCB and flex layouts + Thermal dissipation design experience + Design experience for high-volume mass production + Statistical analysis experience using JMP or MATLAB + Reliability testing experience + Knowledge of FEA inputs and the ability to interpret results + Experience in iterating on proven designs and pushing to find incremental modifications to improve year-over-year performance **Pay & Benefits** At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
