This network focuses on advancing high-frequency magnetics in modern power electronics to support the energy transition.

Job Responsibilities

 

Position DC10: Integrated Filter Designs

Host: Danfoss Drives Oy, Finland

Doctoral degree enrollment: Tampere University, Finland
Objective: Develop novel integrated filter topologies and magnetic arrangements to enhance performance and commercial feasibility in high-power system

 

Secondments: As a part of the doctoral program, three secondments (each 3-months long) are planned at KU Luven, Belgium, Hitachi Energy, Poland, and Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM), Spain

 

Position DC11: High-Power-Density Inductive Components

Host: Danfoss Drives Oy, Finland
Doctoral degree enrolment: Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium
Objective: Explore and optimize cutting-edge manufacturing methods to develop high-power-density inductive components, significantly improving the efficiency and integration of high-frequency multi-megawatt power converter

 

Secondments: As a part of the doctoral program, three secondments (each 3-months long) are planned at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium , Istituto Nazionale Di Ricerca Metrologica (INRiM), Italy, and Hitachi Energy, Poland.

Background & Skills

We’re seeking curious, driven, and creative minds who
 
•    Hold a Master’s degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, or a closely related field, with excellent academic performance by the end of the application period.
•    Bring a solid foundation in power electronics and magnetics.
•    Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to think innovatively and strategically.
•    Communicate clearly and enjoy proactive, collaborative work.
•    Are fluent in English (spoken and written).
•    Thrive in international, interdisciplinary teams and are eager to collaborate across Europe


According to the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) mobility rule, the researcher must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Finland for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays and time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention are not considered.


It will be advantageous if you have:


•    Experience with circuit simulation tools e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, LTSPice.
•    Experience with magnetics simulation tools e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL
•    Familiarity with programming tools e.g., MATLAB, Python,
•    Familiarity with advanced manufacturing techniques and magnetic material characterization.
