Calibration/RMA Technician

When we innovate, humans thrive. Role Purpose: Perform calibrations on single/multi-axis load cells, potentiometers, accelerometers, and machined components. Maintain the day-to-day activities of the Calibration Laboratory. Insure the company’s calibration processes are performed consistently producing the highest quality services to both internal and external customers in a timely manner. Essential Functions& Responsibilities: + Perform load cell calibrations on new/RMA product insuring that the instruments meet manufacturing standards and customer specifications. This activity includes a visual inspection of the product, fixture assembly, performing the calibration, and producing the appropriate calibration documentation. + Perform accelerometer calibrations on new/RMA product insuring that the instruments are certified to current manufacturing standards and customer specifications. This activity includes a visual inspection of the product, fixture assembly, performing the calibration, coordinating any needed repairs with manufacturing, and producing the appropriate calibration documentation. + Perform potentiometer calibrations on new/RMA product insuring that the instruments meet manufacturing standards and customer specifications. This activity includes a visual inspection of the product, fixture assembly, performing the calibration, and producing the appropriate calibration documentation. + Actively seek out and propose solutions to management of ways to improve the quality of the product, services, processes and methods employed in the day-to-day activities related to the Calibration Department. + To insure the expected results are achieved, participation in the implementation of improvements and company quality audits is expected. + Communicate with laboratory supervisor and manufacturing on a regular basis to insure rapid resolution of issues and consistency of applied methodologies. + Insure all positional activities are in compliance with the company’s internal and external standards. + Maintain the physical plant and equipment related to the Calibration Laboratory. This activity includes general housekeeping as well as maintaining a calibration program for all required equipment to insure continued tractability to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001. + Complete special projects as assigned. Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry material weighing up to 25 pounds frequently through the day and material weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally. Customer Focus: This is a highly visible position with a critical impact on the company’s future. Internal and external contacts include all levels of employees within the company, division management, consultants, and other professional business contacts within the industry. External contacts are key to the effective execution of the objectives of the company. Frequently these interactions will involve extremely complex, emotional and sensitive issues. Success in this area is vital for the development of the existing and future business. Critical Competencies: + Knowledge of accelerometers, force transducers and laboratory process documentation must be sufficient to maintain the highest quality standards while coping with rapid growth and expansion of services. + A familiarity with or demonstrated capability to learn standard laboratory organization and test measurement techniques. + A familiarity with, or demonstrated ability to learn, PC operations and basic technical problem solving. Education and/or Experience: + High School diploma required. + A two-year technical degree (ASME) or equivalent degree from an accredited technical institution is preferred. Demonstrable equivalent experience in the instrumentation discipline or a related field will be considered. + One to three years of related experience in an instrumentation laboratory is preferred. + Prior Experience in an ISO/IEC or A2LA certified laboratory a plus. + Sufficient knowledge of PC operation, Windows operating systems, and Microsoft Office programs.
