D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a CAD Manager. The right candidate is responsible for overseeing and directing a team of drafters and/or designers engaged in computer-aided design (CAD) work in support of various design and engineering projects. This role ensures the consistent application of design standards, efficient distribution of workflows, and optimal utilization of design technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead, supervise, and support the CAD team in the execution of engineering design tasks, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and project timelines
Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance oversight to promote team development and technical growth
Efficiently interface CAD work with associated design software (Bentley products, ARCGIS, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
Demonstrate a thorough and comprehensive understanding of residential and site projects of advanced complexity in relation to overall site drainage, grading, and infrastructure constraints
Review and edit CAD drawings for accuracy, clarity, presentation quality, and compliance with established internal standards prior to final dissemination
Allocate and manage design workloads across the team, maintaining appropriate resource distribution and project scheduling
Serve as the principal point of contact for troubleshooting CAD-related issues, providing timely and effective technical support
Establish and enforce corporate CAD standards, including but not limited to, templates, detail libraries, layering conventions, and file management protocols
Evaluate updates and new releases of CAD software platforms; analyze potential organizational impact and develop implementation strategies to ensure seamless adoption
Collaborate cross-functionally with architectural, engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure design deliverables meet functional, aesthetic, regulatory and budget requirements
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, government regulations and best practices to continuously enhance CAD capabilities and workflows
Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to travel overnight

Education and/or Experience
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
Five to seven years of experience in CAD management or senior design role
Demonstrated proficiency with CAD software platforms and related design technologies
Comprehensive understanding of residential design principles, construction documentation, and regulatory standards
Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet critical deadlines in a high-volume environment
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new programs/systems quickly is essential
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
The noise level is generally moderate
Preferred Qualifications
10 years of experience in detailed land development engineering; GIS experience is preferred
Professional certification in CAD software is a plus
