JOB SUMMARY: The cable locator is responsible for locating, testing, and marking various types of telecommunications cable, including fiber optics, using specialized tools and equipment. The role involves interpreting work orders and schematics, operating company vehicles, and working in diverse environments such as confined spaces and elevated areas. Technicians must communicate effectively with customers and crews, follow strict safety protocols, and maintain accurate documentation. Success in this role requires strong accountability, time management, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  Interpret and execute work orders, schematics, and maps.  Locate and test various types of cable (aerial, underground, buried, submarine, coaxial, and fiber optics).  Use specialized tools and test equipment to identify and accurately mark buried cable and fiber.  Interface with customers and excavation crews to complete service orders and communicate locate status.  Operate company vehicles and transport tools and materials to job sites.  Work in confined spaces (e.g., manholes) and at heights (e.g., poles, ladders).  Follow safety protocols, including the use of PPE.  Document work performed and communicate with team members or supervisors via phone or computer systems.    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:  Demonstrate accountability and effective communication.  Meet quality assurance standards and deadlines.  Manage time efficiently and work well independently or as part of a team.  Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment
