Job Summary
You will be working as part of the KBR C-17 team conducting research and generating documents, reports, and other products necessary to meet C-17 Globemaster III program goals and objectives. You will perform engineering investigation and research on airworthiness impacts on C-17 modification packages and on potential modification requirements packages, such as Air Force Form 1067 documentation. You will document observations and conclusions to support Governmental airworthiness decisions in accordance with Air Force airworthiness policy, regulations, procedures and other guidance. You will develop and deliver draft airworthiness packages and certification basis documentation, to include preparing draft Certification Basis documents from the airworthiness package. You will facilitate the airworthiness process by investigating and identifying discrepancies between completed Compliance Reports and the applicable Certification Basis. As necessary, you will coordinate with outside agencies and subject matter experts to ensure C-17 access to artifacts and data in support of airworthiness package completion. You may occasionally be called upon to assist KBR engineers on other C-17 project tasks, to include evaluation of Technical Order (TO) waiver requests and modification package engineering drawing reviews. You will apply your engineering expertise to support efficient and effective programmatic decisions, making key contributions to enhance the C-17’s ability to rapidly project and sustain an effective combat force close to potential battle areas.
This is a contingent position based upon contract task award.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Research airworthiness impacts of modification packages and requirements, applying Air Force and other governing policy, regulations and procedures for airworthiness.
+ Document observations, findings and conclusion of airworthiness evaluations
+ Develop and deliver draft airworthiness packages and certification basis
+ Prepare draft Certification Basis based on the airworthiness package
+ Facilitate the airworthiness process by investigating and identifying discrepancies between completed Compliance Reports and the applicable Certification Basis
+ Coordinate with C-17 Division personnel, outside agencies and subject matter experts to ensure C-17 access to artifacts and data in support of airworthiness package completion.
+ As necessary, support KBR engineers identifying modification package discrepancies, errors, missing data, and any other required corrective actions or concerns
+ As necessary, support KBR engineers researching TO waiver requests and making recommendations on suitability for approval
+ Document observations, findings, and conclusions in professionally written reports
Work Environment:
+ Location: On-site at the KBR Beavercreek OH facility with remote work allowable
+ Travel Requirements: Minimal travel may be required (0-20%)
+ Working Hours: 8 hours scheduled per day, with core hours 0900-1530. Schedule flex allowable with supervisor’s permission.
Required Qualifications:
+ Clearance: Most possess Secret clearance or higher at time of hiring
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
+ 10+ years of engineering experience on Air Force or DoD programs
+ Experience supporting Air Force airworthiness processes
+ 6+ years of experience in Air Force acquisition program offices
Desired:
+ Master’s Degree in Engineering
+ 12+ years of engineering experience on Air Force or DoD programs
+ USAF program office experience working modification and/or requirements evaluation
+ 10+ years of experience in Air Force acquisition program offices
