Bilbao Vizcaya Investments (BVI) is a BBVA company responsible for executing and managing the Group's private equity investments.
Its focus areas include FinTech, Decarbonization, Digital Assets, and High-Growth Tech Companies.
Part of BBVA Spark within the Corporate and Investment Banking division, BVI manages relationships with venture capital funds to foster banking business opportunities with both the funds and their portfolio companies. BVI currently oversees more than €900 million in investment commitments, distributed across 30+ asset managers in Europe, the United States, Asia, and Latin America, as well as direct investments in fintechs, warrants, and startups linked to Spark.
About the job:
Main objectives:
In particular, the candidate will be:
The main liaison with VC funds under his/her coverage, currently LatAm.
Be responsible for business generation for BBVA Spark.
Lead/participate in the definition/update of the investment strategy of the area in the different verticals.
Lead/participate in all aspects of the investment process: fund screening and selection, negotiation, due diligence and execution.
Involved in the ongoing management of the investments in VC funds, including, but not limited to: reviewing the fund’s deal-flow, representing BBVA at the fund’s investment committee, liaising with BBVA’s internal stakeholders for the purpose of generating business opportunities and transferring key insights from the VCs to the Group.
Monitor funds performance and other relevant trends.
Prepare insightful and timely analyses and presentations to drive investment decisions and for engagement with the area’ extensive network of internal (BBVA) and external (VC ecosystem) stakeholders.
Requirements:
Business or Engineering degree or an MBA from top business school.
Prior experience with the VC industry and an existing personal network will be extremely valuable.
Proven experience in developing and presenting market analysis and/or investment proposals.
Previous experience with Latin American markets is a plus.
Investor in listed companies or private companies is a plus.
Languages: Spanish and English fluent necessary for the performance of daily functions.
