Your role and responsibilities
 

We are currently looking for a Project Buyer to strengthen the Marine & Ports Global Sourcing Center team at EUOPC Ostrava, a division of ABB's Process Automation. 

The Marine & Ports Global Sourcing Center Team is a highly efficient and compact group dedicated to assisting the Marine & Ports division in global projects. This team plays a crucial role during the early budgetary phase and is responsible for worldwide strategic procurement and ensuring the availability of essential resources. You can find team footprint on every huge Maritime project across the world. Additionally, the team collaborates closely through Cross-Functional Team (CFT) arrangements with other teams across EUOPC and Marine & Ports division to ensure seamless project execution. 


The work model for the role is: hybrid

This role is contributing to the Process Automation in Ostrava

You will be mainly accountable for:

Tendering phase:​

Sending RFQs to suppliers 

English communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders on daily basis (95% of daily communication is in English only) 

Engaging in commercial negotiation  

Addressing contractual conditions 

Conducting bid evaluation 

Developing and regularly updating tender sourcing plans 

Verifying that tender costs and other conditions align with budgets and baselines

Performing change management (revisions) 

Exploring new suppliers and technologies for specific projects 

Collaborating with sales, technical, project management teams in the USA, Finland, Norway, Singapore, and China. 

Strategic procurement: ​

Exploring new suppliers and technologies for specific projects 

Collaborating with sales, technical, project management teams in the USA, Finland, Norway, Singapore, and China. 

Exploring new suppliers and technologies  

Managing and coordinating supplier onboarding process, involving relevant stakeholders  

Close cooperation with Global Category Management 

Ensuring the update of all relevant systems in alignment with project requirements  

ERP systems: ​

You will be working in the following ERP systems: SAP, SAP Ariba, PowerBi, ABB Procure, MS Teams  

Contracts: ​

Contracts are predefined 

In this scenario, you will collaborate with Country Legal Advisors to refine and negotiate specific details. 

Meetings: ​

Acting as the representative of the procurement team in interactions with project management, sales, and the technical team.

Participation on following meetings: 

- regular bid clarification meetings  

- routine procurement progress meetings 

- consistent meetings with technical and sales teams 

- project management meetings 

- global procurement team meetings 

Traveling: ​

Exploring new suppliers and technologies for specific projects 

Collaborating with sales, technical, project management teams in the USA, Finland, Norway, Singapore, and China. 

Exploring new suppliers and technologies  

Managing and coordinating supplier onboarding process, involving relevant stakeholders  

Close cooperation with Global Category Management 

Ensuring the update of all relevant systems in alignment with project requirements  


Qualifications for the role

High school / university education (technical field is an advantage) 

Experience as a buyer in the technical field 

English language on the communicative level (daily written and oral communication, minimum B2) 

Be very pro-active in communication with suppliers and customers (search and negotiation) 

Strong interpersonal skills to engage with a diverse range of individuals across various positions and locations

Ability to manage complex tasks with a lot of unknown variables during project tender phase 

Self-motivated and able to work independently

Understanding the processes and organization of multinational companies 

Experience in MS Office – Excel (orientation in pivot tables, etc.) & Power Point
