PURPOSE OF POSITION
To schedule and buy materials and production components to meet our customer’s requirements while maximizing value and minimizing total cost through utilization of JIT/Kanban among other lean manufacturing/RBS tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned:
Implement, sustain and improve Kanban system for specific areas in the Business unit and contribute on the inventory accuracy.Minimize Material stock-outs, applying Problem solving process (PSP)Contrubute to achieve >95% OTD per RRX metricsBuy MRO and production supplies as neededPlace purchase orders for materials and confirm delivery with suppliers, expedite material as neededLead Lean Materials process improvement initiatives Drive inventory reduction and cost savings through RBS tools and supplier negotiationsCoordinate schedules with outside suppliers and internal operations Work closely with Internal Customers to prioritize production schedule and backlogMonitor Kanban & Spike orders and resize (re-calculate bins) to current demand patternsActive participation in inventory reduction, and cost savings projectsResolve Invoice matching issues with Accounts Payable.Support Customer Service, Product Managers, Quality and Engineering as requiredAcitve participation in Daily order Review meetings with OperationsActive participation in Daily management meeting with operationsInternal Relationships:
Reports to Materials Manager IIExtensive relationships with internal employees (cross-functionally),i.e Quality, Engineering, Operations, RBS, & Finance functional groups on a variety of Operational Issues.Interacts with Thomson Linear Motion and RRX Corporate professionals to share best practices and collaborate on various initiatives.Other divisions and platforms within Thomson as neededExternal Relationships:

Education - bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business or related fieldExperience – 3-5 years of experience in production/material planning/scheduling/purchasingForeign Language – Spanish/English fluency required.Experience in JIT/Kanban environment and cellular manufacturingExperience in Maquiladoras Metal Mechanical desirableMulti task person and highly organizedMedium-High knowledge Level in Excel Software.Ability to analyze data, form strategic plans and execute at the tactical levelHave experience with SAP / Oracle system (Desirable).Must be willing and able to travel international and domestic by all forms of transportationThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
