The Buyer II role at Thermo Fisher Scientific offers an outstanding chance to improve supply chain execution and support our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You will develop and implement procurement strategies, ensuring flawless execution and alignment with our goals.

We have 3 positions available. This is a fully onsite role based in Ottawa, ON or Pittsburgh, PA. There is no relocation assistance or sponsorship for this position.

What will you do:

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Management

Develop and lead strategic discussions with suppliers to optimize lead times, minimum order quantities, and demand forecasts.Conduct quarterly business reviews with senior leaders to set goals, develop project plans, and review performance metrics.Drive service performance to meet or exceed internal targets and customer expectations.Improve EDI accuracy with suppliers and lead Sales, Inventory and Operation Planning (SIOP) calls.Develop performance improvement plans that communicate root cause, actions taken, and accurate recovery dates.

Metric Management

Analyze and release daily purchase orders.Evaluate and control shipments from suppliers to end customers through the PTO (Performance to Original) process.Apply Microsoft Office tools and data mining tools (SQL and Cognos) to improve service levels and minimize outages.Support inventory management through supplier engagement for return execution.

Relationship Management

Manage internal vendor settings and tables.Perform ad hoc reporting and participate in continuous improvement projects.Provide training and mentoring to new employees as needed.

How will you get here:

Minimum College Diploma with 3 years experienceBachelor’s degree in Business Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceProficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and OutlookGood prioritization skills and the ability to multi-taskExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong influencing skillsProblem solving skills

Preferred Additional Requirements/Qualifications

Supplier/vendor management experience.APICS certification (CPIM, CIRM, CSCP).Experience using SQL Server or COGNOS.
