The Buyer I will assist the Buying Team in expanding product selection by setting up new vendors and items, maintaining the product catalog, and managing pricing. This role involves coordination of new product launches, maintaining product cost, retail price, content and images, vendor relations, and assisting with special projects. The Buyer I will also support and train as a backup to the Control Buyer.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage relationships with key suppliers and business partners to enable and support project execution.Review supplier designs and proposals to ensure scope, pricing, and schedules align with business needs.Support consistent work package sourcing processes aligned with sourcing policies.Facilitate suppliers’ understanding of global policies, equipment design standards, budget, and cost targets, service and quality expectations.Drive suppliers’ continuous improvement and value engineering to support performance metrics in quality, delivery, capacity, cost, and safety.Monitor suppliers’ supply chain, manufacturing, and human capital with respect to overall program objectives.Administer change management programs to ensure programs are delivered per commercial agreements focusing on cost, quality, and schedule objectives.Develop alternate sourcing strategies to optimize costs and ensure continuity of supply.Essential Skills1-3 years of experience working with vendors/contractors, suppliers/sourcing, and negotiation.Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.Materials readiness and buying.Basic understanding of electrical jargon (big plus would be knowledge of air compressor industry as well).Good negotiation skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in management or related field is preferred but flexible.1-3 years of buyer experience, preferably in the electrical or compressor industry.Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.Experience in data analysis, using tools to get averages of data, and checking opinions on data sets.Knowledge of general contractor construction, troubleshooting industry standards, and permit issues.Program management experience is advantageous.Experience working on large or mid-size projects is preferred.Work Environment
The team is part of the Supply Chain supporting automation for delivery stations. The automation program involves significant electrical work, and the team collaborates with electrical contractors to manage the internal supply chain. The environment is fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative, consisting of 10-12 people in automation. The role involves 50% meeting time with suppliers, project managers, and engineering, and 50% focused work. The Buyer I will work on multiple key projects, with a focus on supporting the 2025 program prioritizing customer needs and reducing costs.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr.
