Job Description
The role of Buyer I involves assisting the Buying Team in expanding selection by setting up new vendors and items, maintaining the product catalog, and managing pricing. The position requires involvement in new product launches, coordination, and maintaining product costs, retail pricing, content, and images. This role is pivotal in managing vendor relations and assisting with special projects.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage relationships with key suppliers and business partners to support project execution.Review supplier designs and proposals to ensure alignment with business needs in terms of scope, pricing, and schedules.Support consistent work package sourcing in line with sourcing policies.Facilitate suppliers' understanding of global policies, equipment design standards, budget and cost targets, and service and quality expectations.Drive continuous improvement and value engineering in support of performance metrics: quality, delivery, capacity, cost, and safety.Monitor suppliers’ supply chain, manufacturing, and human capital regarding program objectives.Administer a change management program focused on cost, quality, and schedule objectives.Develop alternate sourcing strategies to optimize costs and ensure supply continuity.Essential SkillsProficiency in sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.Understanding of data management and databases.Capability to work in a demanding, yet collegial environment where teamwork is essential.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in management or related field.3-5 years of buyer experience, preferably in the electrical or compressor industry.Advanced MS Excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookups (2-4 years).Experience in data analysis, using tools for averages and data set evaluation (2-4 years).General contractor construction knowledge to troubleshoot issues such as permit problems (2-4 years).Good negotiation skills (2-4 years).Experience with large or mid-size projects.Work Environment
The team is part of the Supply Chain group, which supports automation for delivery stations. The program involves considerable electrical work and collaboration with electrical contractors. The team consists of 10-12 people and operates in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environment. The position involves a balance of meetings with suppliers and team members (50%) and focused work (50%).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr.
