The Indirect Buyer is accountable for the development, implementation, and on-going management of assigned indirect categories that reduce the total cost of goods and services and derive value from suppliers and supply chain activities. Responsible for reducing the overall supply risk through contingency planning and understanding of supplier capacities, disaster preparedness, and financial health. Develop and improve overall supplier and supply base capabilities. Support facility capital planning. Responsible for the day-to-day placement of purchase orders. Responsible for vetting supplier documentation to facilitate master data approval. Essential Functions: • Develop indirect category strategies that identify preferred sources of supply, consolidate the BSD supply base, minimize overall risk and cost, maximize value, and plan for and manage transitions in supply and services. • Plan for and negotiate effective long term pricing agreements for products and services. • Develop effective supplier relationships at appropriate levels to ensure long term partnerships with key suppliers. • Research new and improved sources of supply as appropriate to support sourcing activities. • Work proactively with suppliers and BSD personnel to drive savings from supply chain. • Support resolution of significant supplier performance issues. • Support and align with BSD indirect sourcing activities. • Proactively secure supplier innovation in support of BSD products and services. • Support new capital, services, product, and program activities as required. • Facilitate engineering changes and other projects to enable savings and/or sourcing flexibility. • Support continuous improvement activities across the entire supply chain including development and implementation of appropriate measures of performance. • Ensure purchasing team represents BSD at the highest level of ethical conduct, fully abiding by company policies and procedures. • Utilize and maintain purchasing systems in support of departmental goals. • Ability to interface with Accounting and Accounts Payable teams as required. • Perform special duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Bachelor degree required, preferably in business or technical field • 1-3 years of purchasing experience in aerospace environment • Strong indirect commodity expertise beneficial in a manufacturing or aerospace environment • Exceptional communication skills with an established comfort level communicating and presenting to all levels within the organization • Excellent Microsoft PC skills, SAP a plus • Solid analysis skills • Ability to perform supplier negotiations on pricing and contractual issues • Ability to work in multi-disciplined teams • The candidate should hold a valid driver’s license • Normal office working conditions apply This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.
