Position Summary

The buyer is responsible for tactical purchasing activities for assigned portfolio to ensure a high level of customer service. The buyer balances supplier capacity and internal inventory levels with demand to support targets consistent with build plans, launch plans, customer service levels and inventory turns. The buuyer leads all efforts with suppliers to address product availability issues and ensures that long term supply constraint issues are resolved or escalated when appropriate. The buyer also has a high level of focus on driving continuous improvement both externally with the supplier and internally within the purchasing function and with key stakeholders.

What you will do:

Support tactical purchasing responsibilities for assigned portfolio to maintain a high level of customer service

Work directly with suppliers to gain an understanding of their internal planning system and how their processes affect/interact with Stryker's material and capacity requirements.

Develop a supply plan across a portfolio within a site. Engage in capability building with suppliers as part of cross functional teams

Generate and communicate receipts, inventory, PPV projections and any relevant KPIs to key stakeholders

Identify gaps in existing business processes and support improvement activities to close them

Work cross-functionally with the following teams to support Stryker initiatives:  Sourcing, AO, Engineering, Planning, Quality and Operations.

Work with buying partner to maintain item master data, i.e. lead times, minimum order qty/order multiple, safety stock levels, delivery dates etc. to ensure system data accuracy

Expedite or de-expedite product as required ensuring material availability, whilst meeting agreed inventory targets. Escalate supply constraints as needed and with appropriate lead time

Work closely with Planning to allow generation of a valid production plan.

Participate and provide input to supplier score card reviews to achieve agreed upon OTIF (on time and in full delivery), cost saving and responsiveness targets

What you need:

Bachelor degree in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management/Logistics, Industrial Engineering, APICS or another equivalent is required.

Languages: at least B2+ English level.

Minimum three years of Supply Chain experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is essential.

Knowledge of MRP systems.

Lean manufacturing knowledge

Excellent knowledge & computer skills of MS Excel, PowerPoint & Word.

Conversant with company policies/procedures/regulatory and FDA standards.

Travel Percentage: 10%
