A Day in the Life at MKS:
As a Buyer at MKS Inc., you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, products, and/or services that meet the company's operational needs. This role involves analyzing market trends, evaluating suppliers, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of quality goods at the best possible prices. You will work closely with internal departments such as procurement, finance, and logistics to align purchasing strategies with business goals.
You Will Make an Impact By:
+ Procuring items required for production so that MKS obtains the highest possible value, including solicitation of bids, recommendation of suppliers, and negotiation of agreements.
+ Having a working knowledge of imports and resale products.
+ Maintaining SAP databases for order quantities, delivery dates, prices, supplier info, lead times, and other relevant data.
+ Locating sources for new materials and developing alternate sources for existing materials. Imports and local sources.
+ Using competitive bidding, negotiating and new source qualification, and achieving cost reduction/profit improvement goals as defined.
+ Making recommendations and seeking approval on process improvements to optimize supply chain and contain costs.
+ Interfacing with Accounting, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve invoicing, supply, and/or quality issues.
+ Serving as back up to others in Purchasing.
+ Travel Requirements: Up to 5% of Travel is required.
Skills You Bring:
+ Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or 3-5 years of procurement experience.
+ Proficiency in procurement software, particularly SAP, and Microsoft Office.
+ Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
+ Knowledge of supply chain and inventory management.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
+ Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.
+ Ability to remain in a stationary position for 90-100% of the time.
+ Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
+ Must be able to exchange accurate information.
