As a Business Unit Financial Controller, you will lead financial and management reporting governance processes, ensuring accurate financial statements and safeguarding JM’s assets. Ensure compliance with group policies, accounting standards and other regulations, and lead the continuous improvement and development of the business unit control environment.
Provide a second line of defence for business unit controls and compliance across all sites, functions and locations, acting as an independent voice within the business unit on the robustness of our controls framework, internal and external policy compliance, and the integrity/accuracy of our balance sheet.
Your responsibilities:
Lead the cross functional controls process for the business unit to identify and mitigate key risks. Deploy the Group policy framework within business unit, acting as a representative on Group policy development forums to ensure changes reflects business units needs and manage its risks.Lead the process for assessing all sites and functions versus the controls framework, benchmarking the results, agreeing actions to resolve gaps and reporting to the business unit Executive leadership team, Corporate Risk & Assurance, Group Reporting, Group Tax and Group Treasury.Provide authoritative specialist guidance to the business unit leadership team to guide the design and implementation of transformation projects and change initiatives from a control’s perspective.Own the financial reporting technical treatment and resolution of complicated accounting issues/judgements for the business unit with Group Reporting, Group Treasury and Group Tax teams.Own the on-time delivery of all external reporting for the legal entities within the business unit. Manage the external reporting process, including timely delivery of reporting, accounting judgements, filings assurance documentation and the external audit relationship.Ownership of tax compliance and implementation for business unit.Ownership of the risk management review and reporting process with business unit executive leadership team with regular reporting to Corporate Risk & Assurance.Requirements for the role:
Bachelor’s degree and accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA, CPA).Experience in Senior Finance leadership role within complex multinational, multi-site businesses.Proven track record in driving change and finance transformation to establish a strong control and governance environment.Ability to influence and lead teams across different sites and reporting lines.Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills with a proactive, results-oriented approach.What we offer:
