This senior level incumbent will handle large face amount cases, while interacting with field personnel, and other more junior underwriters. Primary role will be to provide accurate and timely risk assessment and evaluation of life applications, renewals, or cancellations utilizing the Company's underwriting policies, guidelines and insurance laws and regulations.

Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwrite and evaluate large face amount casesSecond review and signature for less experienced underwritersConduct underwriting audits as neededWork on underwriting related projects as assignedInteract with the field on calls or field visitsContribute to the building and maintaining of strong relationships within the organizationMaintain an awareness of changing practices and regulationsAble to serve as SME to provide input on department procedures or practicesMay serve as a mentor to less experienced underwritersRequirementsBachelor's degree preferred10+ years experience in a production oriented environment3 or more years of direct life experience preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteBrokerage or reinsurance experience is desiredContestable claims investigation experience desiredThorough knowledge of regulatory and policy differences among states in which business is transactedTravel to home office in Montpelier, VT as needed (expected to be quarterly)Must be able to pass a background check
