The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is an

The **business solutions architect** works
closely with business stakeholders and technology teams to find solutions to
business problems and guide the process from idea inception, through functional
and technology requirements, to delivery.
This position will assist the manager, business
systems design and implementations with translating individual business unit
needs into enterprise applications map, forming solutions architecture, and
solidifying the technology vision of the solutions.
As a technology product owner, the business
solutions architect will be choosing the right technology for business problems
and play a pivotal role throughout the systems development lifecycle: from developing
business requirements, work plans and technical specifications, to implementation
and staying involved in future updates to the solution.
**What you do:**
+ Conduct research and analyzehow and which technologies can be used to solve business problems. Define andrecommend what framework, platform, or technical stack can be used to create asolution. Design and envision how the applications will look, what the moduleswill be, and how they will interact with each other.
+ Provides input to the businessplanning and participates in the project planning process.
+ Identify opportunities forimprovement and/or enhancements opportunities of existing business applicationsand processes; implement these improvements through effective leadership andengagement of others.
+ Collaborate with internal andexternal customers to identify and validate specific business needs, create thetechnology and business requirements.
+ Utilize artifacts such asbusiness requirements documents (BRDs), JIRA, data analysis and BusinessProcess Documentation, facilitates requirements alignment sessions.
+ Create technicalspecifications for delivering customer solutions.
+ Produce documentation to aidin the understanding of existing architecture solutions
+ Provide technical leadershipas it relates to developing strategy, scalability, performance, architectureand overall high-level design to ensure solution quality.
+ Oversee consultants to developand implement solutions aligned with agreed upon specifications.
+ Lead the project close out andlessons learned activities to validate solutions with the business to ensuredelivery and continuous improvement.
+ Identify integrationopportunities and overlaps among VFPA business applications; recommendimprovements and enhancements. Resolve application and data integration issuesas required
**What you bring:**
+ A post-secondary degree incomputer science, business administration or another acceptable area
+ A minimum of five yearsrelated experience, including recent proven leadership on creating technologysolutions for business problems, business analysis, project management andbusiness and technology requirement gathering in complex business environments.
+ Experience working with bothagile and waterfall delivery methodologies is required, and well as proficiencyin tools like Visio, draw.io, Jira, and SharePoint.
+ Must value maintaining theirtechnology skills and act proactively to stay on top of advances in areas ofexpertise.
+ Must have demonstratedexperience with the following:
+ o Experienceworking with both agile and waterfall delivery methodologies is required
+ o Proficiencyin tools like Visio, draw.io, Jira, and SharePoint
+ o Clouddata platforms (Azure and AWS) along with on-premises data integration.
+ o Understandingof on-premises and on cloud dashboard deployments.
+ o Experienceworking as a solution technology owner on ServiceNow platform.
+ o Complextechnical and architectural documentation skills.
+ o Conceptualunderstanding of and exposure to modern programming languages, data management,analysis and reporting tools
+ The following will beconsidered assets:
+ o Experiencewith supporting or creating solutions for finance and accounting systems.
+ o Exposureto other no-code/low-code platforms such as Microsoft Powerautomate/PowerApps,OpenText AppWorks, etc
+ o Experiencewith data management platforms, IOT Integration and analytics projects.
+ o Developmentand programming experience/exposure.
+ o Datasecurity principles, efficiency, quality, and governance.
