The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented, strategic, and process-savvyBusiness Operations Director in Engineering (IC)to support and enhance our software product development organization. While this role does not have direct reports, it requires a high degree of influence across engineering, product management, and related teams. You will drive operational excellence by optimizing processes, managing development tools, and ensuring alignment across teams. Your ability to connect people, tools, and workflows will be crucial to improving execution efficiency, visibility, and predictability across our engineering and product organizations. Key Responsibilities: Process Optimization & Governance + Collaborate with engineering, product, and program leads to define, refine, and roll out scalable product development workflows and practices. + Identify inefficiencies in the development lifecycle and propose solutions to improve team effectiveness and delivery timelines. + Drive consistency in agile planning and execution processes across teams. Tool Administration & Configuration + Administer and configureAzure Boards,Atlassian Confluence,Aha!, and other relevant tools to support engineering and product operations. + Define and manage project templates, workflows, custom fields, and reporting structures. + Work closely with IT and tool vendors to maintain integration and performance of systems. Operational Support & Reporting + Maintain up-to-date dashboards, OKRs, and metrics that provide visibility into team performance and delivery health. + Support release planning, sprint tracking, and milestone reporting through tool-enabled automation and best practices. + Act as the go-to expert on tooling and process documentation. + Coordinate and execute on softwareand contractor procurement efforts. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence + Work closely with engineering leadership, product managers, and program managers to align operations with strategic objectives. + Advocate for process improvements and facilitate adoption across technical and non- technical stakeholders. + Lead training sessions or create documentation to help teams adopt tool or process changes effectively. Skills & Requirements Requirements : + 10+ years of experience in engineering operations, program management, or a related role within a software development environment. + Demonstrated experience managing or administering development tools such asAzure DevOps (Boards),Confluence,Aha!, Jira, or similar platforms. + Strong understanding of agile, scrum, and/or scaled agile methodologies. + Proven track record of leading process change without formal authority; strong influencing and facilitation skills. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across roles and levels. + Analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to solving problems. Nice to Have + Experience in SaaS product development environments. + Familiarity with integrations between Azure DevOps and other tools (e.g., GitHub, Aha!, Jira, etc.). + Exposure to enterprise IT processes such as change management or compliance reporting.
