ABOUT THIS JOB

The Business Lead for Strategic Sourcing and Procurement manages category programs and will lead Procurement deliverables in support of Service Operations Modernization and the implementation of Oracle Supply Chain Management to support CarMax operations and business needs.   This role will work with internal stakeholders and third parties to drive programs and activities based on the priorities of these internal teams and strategic initiatives.   The manager will lead program initiatives and demonstrate expertise in sourcing, purchasing, and contracting.  This manager is also responsible for ensuring effective and efficient procurement processes are implemented and sustained for key categories.

WHAT YOU’LL DO – ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Work effectively with leaders, suppliers, and cross functional teams to develop, implement, and execute category programs within Oracle Supply Chain Management modules and continually improve programs to successfully accomplish goals or objectivesDirect strategic suppliers to meet CarMax’s program goals and objectivesCollaborate with category leadership to conduct needs analysis and recommend purchasing strategies to address pressing business challenges and design effective purchasing processes including:  providing detailed functional business requirements and product knowledge, providing guidance and input on critical design decisionsCreate and execute subcategory strategies to drive improvements to purchasing operations and execution including the creation production operation procedures and providing aid in training, deployment planning, and execution of programsSupport category leaders in managing existing programs including supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, sourcing support, and frequent review of overall supplier performance with insights based on changing business systemsAct as main point of contact for supplier issue resolution and continual program development for the procurement functions within Oracle Supply Chain Management.  This includes developing test scenarios and cases, managing the resources, scope, timeline, quality, and risk for specific Procurement process areas.Keep current on category trends, best practices and program developmentAnalyze data, perform research and conduct observations to develop programs Maintain a deep knowledge of the category managed, procurement practices and sourcing strategiesChampion the needs of business teams and stakeholders throughout the development process; ensure what is delivered meets the original goals and/or KPMsTake a hands-on role in project management for all category programs and initiatives to ensure that programs and/or process improvements meet or exceed the needs of the businessBring innovative approaches and leading-edge sourcing and procurement practices to inform thinking on category strategies

Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VA and have a Hybrid work arrangement

Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role.

Demonstrate a high degree of planning, organization and self-management to consistently meet agreed upon deliverables QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

5+ years of experience in program or project management required, preferably in strategic sourcing or procurement5+ years of procurement/buying and supplier management experience required with specific experience in sublet preferredOracle Supply Chain experience preferredExcellent project management and organization skills, with exceptional attention to detailAbility to work both independently and collaboratively, while driving execution in a rapidly changing environmentStrong verbal and written communication, facilitation and presentation skills;Ability to handle sensitive associate and business information with utmost confidentialityAbility to partner and work strategically with cross-functional teams to drive overall solutions, while appropriately managing issues and risks and large-scale change managementAbility to build and maintain positive and influential working relationships across all levels within the organizationBachelors degree, preferredProficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and purchasing systems, Oracle and Coupa preferred
