As a Business Intelligence Engineer II, you'll lead data-driven decision-making for Amazon's EU Middle Mile network optimization. Key job responsibilities
As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be instrumental in optimizing Amazon's EU Middle Mile network by leveraging data analytics and technical expertise. You'll drive data excellence and network optimization through:
- Developing automated analytics solutions to evaluate network performance across cost, speed, and sustainability metrics
- Creating scalable reporting frameworks to track and validate network design outputs
- Partnering with stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into actionable insights
- Implementing innovative analytical approaches to identify network improvement opportunities
- Supporting data-driven decision making for peak and off-peak network planning
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of our optimization tools and processes
A day in the life
No two days are the same, but they might include a mix of:
- Collaborate with network planners to understand specific scenario requirements (e.g., evaluating different approaches to handle peak volume surges)
- Deep-dive into historical network performance data to establish baseline metrics and identify key variables
- Design and implement analytical frameworks to compare multiple network design options across cost, speed, and sustainability metrics
- Use and refine automated validation tools to assess scenarios against established acceptance criteria
- Visualize the trade-offs between different network designs
- Partner with stakeholders to refine evaluation methodology and success metrics
- Present scenario analysis findings to senior leadership, highlighting key recommendations and potential risks
- Document and share best practices for scenario evaluation across global network design teams
About the team
The PRISM (Process Refinement, Integration & Strategic Modeling) team is at the forefront of optimizing Amazon's European Middle Mile network. We specialize in Large Network Transformations, leveraging advanced optimization models and data science tools to proactively adapt our network to demand fluctuations and meet specific business goals. Our multifaceted approach involves orchestrating input collection, ensuring data quality, collaborating on technology solutions, and defining business strategies through comprehensive scenario analysis. We model Plans of Record that outline ideal network states, including routes, truck schedules, and key performance indicators. Our work directly impacts the efficiency, speed, and cost-effectiveness of Amazon's vast logistics operations, driving innovation in one of the world's most complex transportation networks.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
- Experience in the data/BI space
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- - Familiarity or experience with logistics / supply chain business domain.
