John Hancock Manulife Investment Management is a world-class provider of asset management and investment strategies. The Global Business Intelligence Team, as part of the wider Global Retail Sales Enablement Function, is responsible for providing in-depth analysis, commentary and reporting solutions that can surface insight for a variety of key partners across the business, including senior management, sales leadership, wholesalers, marketing, product and finance.
We support a range of analytics initiatives and right now we are modernizing how data flows into, through and around our reporting environment, to enable a scalable, sustainable data-eco system -underpinning insight and decision making across the business.
The Role
This role will be primarily responsible for helping shape the future of our data and reporting eco system by understanding the business needs and assessing the processes, means and solutions to achieve this. You’ll work closely with our key partners and consumers data, as well as collaborating with our technology teams, to scope and understand the requirements and play a key role in establishing the design and approach for the appropriate delivery method or solution. As part of this end-to-end delivery, the BI developer and Analyst on our team will build out the data pipelines, processes or full reporting solutions depending on the needs of the project.
You will work across transformation projects to structure, model and integrate data into a coordinated framework and data model that can enable the detailed sales and CRM reporting supported by the team. In some cases you will take ownership of development; in others you will be supported by SMEs in the technology and AI teams as well - to deliver solutions aligning to the business’s strategic data roadmap. Ultimately, your work will help connect business needs, data sources, processes and reporting together into a solid foundation that will create long term value in the business.

Have a general understanding of financial services /operations, and strive to deliver solutions that drive commercial impact. You’ll be proactive and adaptable, with ability to understand the business context of the data and the technical delivery of solutions, asking the right questions and exploring how data and process improvements can contribute value.

Strong partner engagement and a focus on delivering value will be key to prioritizing high impact work, building relationships with our partners and owning projects.
Position Responsibilities:
Discovery & Analysis:
Business Analysis and Use Case Development for Identifying where data can support decision making
Understand where improvements can be made to existing workflows and close data gaps
Work with BI manager and analysts to understand business operations and assess data struggles and opportunities
Comfortable with ambiguity and possess a “figure it out” mentality
Design & Development:
Contribute to the design, build and maintenance of efficient data models / datasets to be used in PowerBI, salesforce, Tableu
Developing reusable KPIs in our data and enable self service capabilities for dashboard and reporting solutions
Partnering & Collaboration:
Collaborate and build strong working relationships with business partners/vendors
Understand what the various business functions we support need and work with tech on delivering solutions.
Ability to influence and negotiate to meet project deadlines
Required Qualifications:
SQL server and/or business intelligence reporting tools (Tableau, PowerBI, Qliksense, alteryx)
Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel, as well as Visio and other process mapping tools
Salesforce and Agile expereince.
Must be able to communicate and interface professionally vertically and horizontally across the organization
Knowledge of French can be beneficial for collaborating with French-speaking sales regions
